An American in Maldova: Ed Taub

When Edward Taub retired from teaching in the Detroit Public School system a few years ago, his wife Svetlana suggested that they move to Moldova where they settled with Svetlana’s mother. Mr. Taub soon became active in the local community, teaching advanced English using Rev. Moon’s As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen as a text. He also began to deliver a sermon once a month to the community. Mr. Taub, known for his caring, pensive, and organized approach to all that he does has not surprisingly made an impact. Reflection on the Beirut Blast

Mr. Schellen’s apartment was impacted by the explosion in Lebanon on August 4, 2020 which took the lives of more than 200 people, injured more than 6,000, and left hundreds of thousand homeless. UTS Holds Successful Virtual Open Houses in July

On the foundation of the highly successful June 13th Virtual Open House, UTS held three Open House programs in July. Each event focused on one or two degree programs, providing an opportunity for students interested in particular degree programs to receive information specific to their interests. Passing the Torch to a New Generation

In its early years, UTS sponsored numerous “theologian’s conferences” which brought its students into dialogue with mainstream scholars. This led to the establishment of new organization such as the New Ecumenical Research Association (New ERA), the International Religious Foundation (IRF), the Youth Seminar on World Religions and others. On Sunday, May 31, 2020, Professor William Lay, Director of the University of Bridgeport’s School of Public and International Affairs, organized a virtual convocation of his students to reflect on the inhumane and brutal killing of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police force. UTS Graduation 2020

The Seminary’s 44th annual commencement exercises for the UTS Class of 2020 were unique and unprecedented. With the world suffering through a global pandemic due to COVID-19, UTS conducted a virtual graduation for its nineteen M.R.E., M.A., M.Div. and D.Min. graduates.
