UTS Alumni Dominate Inter-Generational Golf Tournament 2017

RED HOOK, NY – Canadian Fred Lacroix (UTS’94) was the winner of the first trophy-awarded Blessed Culture and Sports Festival (BCSF) inter-generational golf tournament held Saturday, August 12 at the Red Hook Golf Club. A total of 17 players took part in the tournament which Jin Kwon Kim (UTS’10), BCSF founder and coordinator, organized this year.

“One of the things with me is I’m always trying to initiate stuff,” said Kim. “For example, golf this year. We didn’t have a set person for golf so I took it upon myself to make sure that it happened. Eventually I hope to find someone who can just take it on and I can move on to something else”

Lacroix, an avid golfer, shot a 4-under par 76 to take home the winner’s trophy on a perfect day for golf: warm, but slightly overcast, which kept the hot, August sun at bay. Two more UTS alumni, Mr. Shin Yeop Yu (UTS’09) and Mr. Dae Myung Park (UTS’06), finished a respectable second and third. Mr. Yu shot a 78 to capture second place and Mr. Park shot an 80 to place third.

This year’s tournament was dedicated to the memory of Joe Coyne, a competitor in last year’s tournament, who passed away earlier this year.
