Imagining Biblical Narratives through the Hermeneutic of the Principle of Creation

HJI held a Faculty Roundtable on Thursday, November 13 at 7pm ET, hosted by Dr. Thomas Walsh, President. Dr. Andrew Wilson, Professor of Scriptural Studies spoke on “Imagining Biblical Narratives through the Hermeneutic of the Principle of Creation.”

In the latest expression of Holy Mother Han’s theology, she writes, “Our Creator’s Principle of Creation is based on a pair system. Therefore, the fulfillment of God’s providence that Christianity and all religions have failed to realize and the culmination of fallen human history that cannot be achieved by men alone can only be accomplished through my presence.” (The Value of True Parents in Heaven’s Providence, p. 239) Holy Mother Han is calling for a society based on the Principle of Creation.

In this presentation, Dr. Wilson re-imagined some key biblical narratives through the hermeneutical lens of the Principle of Creation, proposing a corrective to the conventional Judeo-Christian and Unificationist views of the course of providential history, considering how history might have developed differently had its central figures applied more elements of the Principle of Creation. His words inspired a meaningful questions by those attendance, and invited everyone present to think more deeply on this topic.
