Ms. Komagata joined the UTS Master of Arts in Religious Studies program in September 2021 and decided to join the Master of Arts in Peace Studies program in spring 2022 once it received approval by the New York State Department of Higher Education. Ms. Komagata, who is from Switzerland, did her Bachelor degree in International Relations and as well as a Master degree in Asian Studies at the University of Geneva. She has been actively working with the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in Europe for almost seven years and has assisted in the coordination and programming of numerous UPF programs.
UTS Provost Dr. Thomas Ward said that he was very happy to meet Melanie and her husband at UTS: “Melanie is an excellent student; she was one of the students winners of our first UTS Research Day, which was held last March. She is a great example of the type of student whom we hope to welcome to this new UTS program. It was wonderful to meet with her in person. Our Peace Studies program is offered wholly online so I have only known her virtually until this visit.”
