UTS to establish a Theta Alpha Kappa Chapter in 2020
In January 2020 Unification Theological Seminary was accepted as a member of the Theta Alpha Kappa (TAK) national honor society for students of Religious Studies. It is the only national honor society dedicated to recognizing academic excellence in baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate students and in scholars in the fields of Religious Studies and Theology.
Theta Alpha Kappa website points out that it is “a related scholarly organization of the American Academy of Religion, an affiliated program of the Society of Biblical Literature and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.” It has its own academic journal, the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa.
Dr. Ward, President of UTS and a Member of Theta Alpha Kappa, expressed appreciation for the Honor Society welcoming UTS into the TAK fold and said that he felt that it would allow an opportunity for UTS to expand delegation with religious scholars in schools and colleges around the country. He said that the UTS Chapter will plan to induct its first students and faculty into the UTS chapter in May 2020. Dr. Drissa Kone, Assistant Professor of Ministry, will serve as the TAK faculty advisor at UTS.
