Dr. R. Bruce Clarke

Bruce Clarke serves currently as Facilitator of Intergenerational Worship at the Family Church of Connecticut (FCCT), where he previously held the positions of Chair of the Church Council, Youth Pastor, and Director of Children’s Ministry. He earned his Doctorate in Ministry from HJI, and holds Masters degrees in Education, and in Humanities (History concentration).

Dr. Clarke also taught for 30 years in the History and Social Studies Dept. at Darien High School in Connecticut, where he fostered numerous initiatives in teaching excellence. He was nominated twice for Gilder Lehrman Teacher of the Year awards in American History in part for the way he brought historical figures to life in the classroom. He grew up in California where he studied his first passions writing and literature as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley. After a hiatus to do missionary work, he earned his BS in psychology at Excelsior College. He was blessed in marriage to his lovely bride Setsue in 1989. They have one remarkable son, Josh.

Developing intergenerational worship and ministry to build understanding of the relationships among generations in community and God.

Research Interests

My research seeks to understand how intergenerational ministry – grounded in collaborative leadership, social science and watered by practical theology – helps people learn and grow in spirituality, faith formation, and community.
