Does Switzerland’s neutrality have an expiration date?

May 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

REGISTER HERE!

HJ International Graduate School for Peace and Public Leadership is pleased to co-host a special program with the Research Institute for the Integration of World Thought (RIIWT). We invite you to register for the presentation on “Does Switzerland’s neutrality have an expiration date?” to be held on May 16 at 2 PM ET.

Neutrality has long been part of Switzerland’s image in the world and its history spans half a millennium. It is an armed neutrality that has allowed Switzerland to remain unscathed during the two World Wars. It is also a reason why many international organizations related to the UN are headquartered in Geneva, the birthplace of the Geneva Conventions and a frequent venue for peace negotiations. But is neutrality still a desirable option in today’s political environment? Are there still legitimate grounds to claim that it furthers peace? This has been increasingly challenged, both inside and outside of the country.

Dr. Thomas Walsh, President of HJI, will host this event and Yves Nidegger, Esq., former member of Swiss parliament (National Council), will be the presenter. Dr. Thomas Ward, Professor of Peace and Development Studies, HJI, will be the respondent and Dr. Claude Perrottet, president of RIIWT will moderate the event.

This insightful program will conclude with a Q&A with the audience. We look forward to seeing you at this event!
