SUMMARY:Does Switzerland’s neutrality have an expiration date?
DESCRIPTION:Watch the Recording!\nHJ International Graduate School for Peace and Public Leadership is pleased to co-host a special program with the Research Institute for the Integration of World Thought (RIIWT). We invite you to register for the presentation on “Does Switzerland’s neutrality have an expiration date?” to be held on May 16 at 2 PM ET. \nNeutrality has long been part of Switzerland’s image in the world and its history spans half a millennium. It is an armed neutrality that has allowed Switzerland to remain unscathed during the two World Wars. It is also a reason why many international organizations related to the UN are headquartered in Geneva\, the birthplace of the Geneva Conventions and a frequent venue for peace negotiations. But is neutrality still a desirable option in today’s political environment? Are there still legitimate grounds to claim that it furthers peace? This has been increasingly challenged\, both inside and outside of the country. \nDr. Thomas Walsh\, President of HJI\, will host this event and Yves Nidegger\, Esq.\, former member of Swiss parliament (National Council)\, will be the presenter. Dr. Thomas Ward\, Professor of Peace and Development Studies\, HJI\, will be the respondent and Dr. Claude Perrottet\, president of RIIWT will moderate the event. \nThis insightful program will conclude with a Q&A with the audience. We look forward to seeing you at this event!

SUMMARY:Our Future With AI - Part II: Theological Anthropology\, Alignment and Eschatology
DESCRIPTION:Watch the Recording!\nHJ International Graduate School for Peace and Public Leadership is pleased to co-host a special program with the Higher Purpose Forum (HPF). We invite you to register for “Our Future With AI – Part II: Theological Anthropology\, Alignment and Eschatology” to be held on Wednesday\, May 7 at 7 PM ET.  \nArtificial intelligence (AI) is already integrated into almost every area of human activity. The exponential advance in the performance of machine learning has repeatedly exceeded expectations. Will the advent of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) or Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) usher in a radically new and disruptive epoch in human\, or post human history? \n\nWhat impact will AGI/ASI have on the traditional understanding of the human being as a unique creation\, created in the image and likeness of God\, imago dei?\nIs it too late to align AI with human values and goals\, and with divine providence?\nCan AI be harnessed in such a way as to serve providential objectives of human history\, the Kingdom of God?\n\nThis program is the second in a series on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. We invite you watch “Our Future with AI – Part I” prior to attending this program. The stimulating and informative presentations and discussion provide an excellent basis upon which to join Part II. To see the recording click here. \nYou will have the opportunity to hear from our speakers Dr. Thomas Walsh\, HJI President. and Ms. Bruna Allen\, HJI Class of 2024. Mr. James Edgerly\, Director of Higher Purpose Forum\, will be the host of the event. \nWe look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:Faculty Roundtable | "The Root Cause of Conflict and Violence: A Jungian Perspective"
DESCRIPTION:WATCH THE RECORDING!\nHJI invites you to the Faculty Roundtable on Wednesday\, April 23 at 7pm ET\, hosted by Dr. Thomas Walsh\, HJI President. Dr. Drissa Kone\, HJI Associate Professor of Conflict Resolution and Ministry\, will be speaking on “The Root Cause of Conflict and Violence: A Jungian Perspective.” \nCarl Jung’s perspective on conflict and violence is deeply rooted in his concept of the Shadow\, which represents the unconscious\, repressed aspects of the human psyche. According to Jung\, individuals and societies often project their own denied and unacknowledged weaknesses\, fears\, and aggressions onto others\, creating an “enemy” outside of themselves. This projection is a fundamental source of conflict\, whether on a personal level or in large-scale wars. His theory\, deeply connected to depth psychology and spirituality\, suggests that true peace comes not from external control but from internal transformation. \nPlease join us for this informative presentation\, followed by a Q&A session with the audience! \nWe look forward to an insightful and engaging event.

SUMMARY:Faculty Roundtable | "Philosophers I Met in My Dreams"
DESCRIPTION:Watch the Recording! \nHJI invites you to the Faculty Roundtable on Tuesday\, March 25 at 7pm ET\, hosted by HJI President Dr. Thomas Walsh. HJI Associate Provost\, Dr. Keisuke Noda will be speaking on “Philosophers I Met in My Dreams.” \nDr. Noda\, Professor of Philosophy at HJI\, recently published two books in Japan: The Philosophers I Met in My Dreams: From Plato to Dogen (Art Village\, 2025\, 522 pages\, in Japanese)\, and The Limits of Religion and the Meaning of Life: V. Frankl’s Perspective (Art Village\, 2024\, 279 pages\, in Japanese). \nAt this Faculty Roundtable\, Dr. Noda will share the conceptual design behind The Philosophers I Met in My Dreams: From Plato to Dogen. This book creatively approaches the history of philosophy through a playful\, narrative-driven journey. Dr. Noda will outline the plot and structure\, illustrating how philosophical ideas are seamlessly integrated into an engaging story. Additionally\, he will discuss fundamental questions in hermeneutics (the theory of meaning)\, examining how meaning arises in dialogue with the perspectives of Wittgenstein\, Heidegger\, Frankl\, and with a reflection on artificial intelligence (AI). \nPlease join us for this informative presentation\, followed by a Q&A session with the audience! \nWe look forward to an insightful and engaging event.

DESCRIPTION:WATCH THE RECORDING! \nHJ International Graduate School for Peace and Public Leadership is pleased to co-host a special program with the Higher Purpose Forum (HPF). We invite you to register for the presentation on “Science Within the Consciousness of God” to be held on May 21 at 7 PM ET.  \nMr. James Edgerly\, Director of Higher Purpose Forum will be the host of this event. \nMs. Alison Wakelin\, Widener University Assistant Teaching Professor will be the main presenter. She will speak on the various paths taken by scientists to find a holistic perspective to complement the reductionist model\, and if Unification principles offer a path toward incorporating a wider model of reality. \nDr. Andrew Wilson\, HJI Professor of Scriptural Studies will be the respondent. \nFollowing challenges to Newton’s mechanistic model of the universe\, the early twentieth century offered the possibility of a new perspective via Quantum Mechanics and Relativity. However\, physics turned to an instrumental approach rather than understanding the deeper implications of the new theories. The primary concern became the prediction of the outcome of experiments rather than incorporating purpose\, meaning and consciousness. \nThe program will conclude with a Q&A with the audience. SUMMARY:Rev. Moon's Early Writings on Science
DESCRIPTION:WATCH THE RECORDING! \nHJ International Graduate School for Peace and Public Leadership is pleased to co-host a special program with the Higher Purpose Forum (HPF). We invite you to register for Rev. Moon’s Early Writings on Science to be held on May 7 at 7 PM ET. \nMr. James Edgerly\, Director of Higher Purpose Forum will be the host of this event. \nDr. Andrew Wilson\, HJI Professor of Scriptural Studies\, will cover specific topics of the Principle’s treatment of scientific topics as conveyed in the Wolli Wonbon. These will include: elemental forces of gravity and electromagnetism\, planetary motion\, incandescent color\, and applications to human psychology. \nWilliam Lay\, JD\, Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice and Human Secuirty\, HJI will be the respondent. \nRev. Moon’s (as yet unpublished) first manuscript of Divine Principle (titled Wolli Wonbon)\, which he wrote in 1951-52\, devotes more than 100 pages to science. Topics range from astronomy to evolution\, from electro-magnetism to animal behavior to psychology. \nIn the background of Wolli Wonbon is Rev. Moon’s own life experience\, first as a student of electrical engineering at a school connected to Waseda University in Japan\, and then as a prisoner in the Heungnam Prison Camp in North Korea where he was subjected to many hours of indoctrination in Marxist dialectical materialism.  At the start of his ministry\, Rev. Moon saw a need to put forward “the Principle”\, as both a rigorous counterproposal to dialectical ideologies and a worldview that could be the basis for working towards a future of peace and harmony. \nThe program will conclude with a Q&A with the audience. We look forward to seeing you at this event! \n
